The valkyries were female figures in Norse mythology who decided the fate of soldiers in battle. This painting depicts figures of great energy but they are dancing irish dance and presumably harmless. The painting uses both oil and collage.
About Georg Douglas
Originally educated as a geologist (PhD), I have worked in this field and taught for 36 years until retirement. I have been painting full time since 2005 and have held several solo and joint exhibitions. Although living in Iceland for most of my life, I was born and raised in Co. Derry, N.
